In late 2002, Chris Nuzum joined the
company as an Owner and President.
The company was later asked to serve as Expert Witnesses on
the Tri-State Crematory Civil
Trial. This was in part due to the fact that the Cremation Society
of the SOUTH did not sub-contract cremations to
others or cremate as a third-party for funeral homes. The company
was asked to testify about the proper and dignified care for the
deceased. Cremation Society of the SOUTH was the only funeral provider in the State
of Georgia
asked to serve as an expert witness which is an honor to be officially
recognized as a premier funeral service provider.
In 2003, SouthCare Memorial Chapel
relocated to a new facility located Marietta, Georgia and renamed,
SouthCare Funeral Home. The Cremation Society of the SOUTH then
sought approval to relocate its operations into the City of Marietta.
Once approved and welcomed, a building was constructed adjacent to the
SouthCare Funeral Home and both locations in Smyrna and Austell, Georgia
were closed.
In October of 2006, a second location was
established in Stockbridge, Georgia and licensed as, Cremation Society
of
the SOUTH at Eagle's Landing. The new facility is located at the
Eagle's Landing / Hudson Bridge exit off of I-75 in Henry County and
will serve the local citizens south of Atlanta and as far as Macon.
The company is a member driven cremation
society with over 12,000 Protected Lifetime Members that have chosen to
document their wishes prior to death. Documenting ones wishes is
easy and eases the burdens and pressures from the survivors who would
otherwise be obligated with this responsibility.
