SIMPLE CREMATION - PRICE COMPARISON

In September of 2007, pricing surveys were conducted of the area funeral homes listed below.  In order to compare “apples to apples”, prices were requested for direct cremation with a cardboard alternative container made of heavy cardboard, no interior. The prices are accurate, based upon the information obtained during the survey.  The cost of a cremation casket (not required), embalming (not required), death certificates or an urn is not included in the cremation cost comparison.  Many funeral homes charge additional fees to transport the deceased to a third party off-site crematory.  Of course, anyone can offer cremation but very few can say that they do not sub-contract cremations. 

*Members in the Cremation Society of the SOUTH pay $795 and non-members pay $1195.
